Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with complex needs, all while enjoying the flexibility of working from home? We are looking for a dedicated Virtual Special Education Teacher to join our remote team. In this role, you will work closely with a small caseload of students who have significant autism, cognitive impairments, are non-speaking, medically fragile, and may exhibit self-injurious behaviors. You'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on their education, alongside a supportive team that includes four paraprofessionals.
What You'll Do:
Create & Deliver Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Develop and implement IEPs remotely, focusing on promoting life skills, communication, and academic progress for students with unique and significant needs.
Lead Virtual Learning: Use virtual platforms to create a structured, engaging, and safe learning environment, with the assistance of four paraprofessionals who will support students in the remote classroom.
Provide Tailored Instruction: Offer direct virtual instruction, adjusting your teaching approach to meet the diverse needs of students with autism, cognitive impairments, and medical fragility.
Collaborate with Support Staff: Work closely with paraprofessionals and other team members to ensure consistency and high-quality instruction for every student.
Communicate with Families & Stakeholders: Maintain open communication with students' families, therapists, and administrators to ensure continuous support and progress for each child.
What You'll Bring:
Active Special Education Certification in Maine (Required): A valid certification to teach students with special needs in Maine.
Experience with Significant Disabilities: Previous experience working with students who are non-speaking, medically fragile, or face behavioral challenges is essential.
Tech Savvy: Comfort with using online teaching platforms and tools to deliver effective remote instruction.
Strong Communication & Teamwork Skills: The ability to work collaboratively with paraprofessionals, families, and other professionals to support student success.
